Our Physicians

Yuma Regional Cancer Center patients are cared for by a highly skilled, compassionate team of cancer experts. Experienced in the most up-to-date procedures and technologies, our physicians work closely with one another to develop comprehensive treatment strategies. They are devoted to all phases of the process, including diagnosis, therapy, recovery and long term wellness.

 

Ambuga Badari, M.B.B.S

Ambuga Badari, M.B.B.S. received his Doctoral degree from Bangalore Medical College in Bangalore, India. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from Catholic Health System State University of New York in Buffalo, NY. He completed his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.
 
Brenda Carroll, M.D.

Specializes in Medical Oncology and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and earned a Medical Doctorate from the Medical University of South Carolina located in Charleston. Dr. Carroll completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Oncology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia.
Dr. Carroll holds active membership in the American Medical Association, GASCO, Medical Association of Georgia as well as the Society of Integrative Medicine.
 

 Douglas Debenham, M.D.

Dr. Douglas Debenham received a Medical Doctorate from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship in Internal Medicine. He completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Debenham also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the Texas A&M University and an Associate’s degree in General Science from Dixie College. He is Board Certified in Therapeutic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.

 

 

 Brenda Ernst, M.D

Originally from Florida, Dr. Brenda Ernst completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions.  She completed her Doctorate of Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Bay Shore, NY, and St. George, Grenada. Dr. Ernst gained experience working at a Regional Medical Center at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, FL, where she completed her Internal Medicine Residency. While there, Dr. Ernst was honored as the American College of Physicians Outstanding Resident of the Year. Dr. Ernst is currently is currently completing her Oncology/Hematology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. She has published research in the areas of head, neck, and esophageal cancer and is currently developing protocols for better delivery of care in hematology patients. Dr. Ernst’s Fellowship is partially supported by the Richard Michael McDaniel Endowment Fund, which was established to further cancer treatment, diagnosis, and research in Yuma.

 

Timothy B. Galang, M.D. 

Received a Medical Doctorate from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Galang also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Incarnate Word University in San Antonio.
 

 Augustine Lau, M.D.

Dr. Augustine Lau was born and raised in Yuma, AZ.  He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Arizona. During medical school, he became a commissioned United States Naval officer and completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Upon completion of his U.S. Navy flight surgeon training in Pensacola, FL, he reported for duty at MCAS-Yuma as flight surgeon for MAWTS-1. Following his military service he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. After practicing medicine independently in Yuma for one year, Dr. Lau completed his Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Arizona. Dr. Lau was the first recipient of the Dr. Peter Sullivan Fellowship Award created in honor of Dr. Peter Sullivan, who currently practices at the Yuma Regional Cancer Center. Dr. Lau’s family continues to reside and work in Yuma.

 

Peter Sullivan, M.D.

Specializes in Medical Oncology and Hematology. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington, in Seattle. He earned a Medical Doctorate from McGill University Faculty of Medicine, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Dr. Sullivan completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Hermann Hospital, Houston. Following his residency, he was appointed American Cancer Society Senior Fellow in Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Sullivan is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a founder and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He also belongs to the American Medical Association, Arizona Medical Association, Yuma County Medical Society, American College of Physicians and the Arizona Clinical Oncology Society.

 

Gregory Yang, M.D.

Specializes in Medical Oncology. He is board eligible in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Dr. Yang received his Medical Doctorate from University of the East in Manila, Philippines. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Loyola University St. Francis Hospital of Evanston in Evanston, IL. He additionally completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Northwestern University St. Francis Hospital of Evanston in Evanston, IL. Dr. Yang holds a Bachelor of Science in nutrition from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
