Breastfeeding Support

New mothers who decide to breastfeed are making a healthy choice for their babies. Yet the process of breastfeeding doesn't always come naturally. Very often, mothers need to learn the basics of breastfeeding before they can start feeding their babies successfully. YRMC offers several levels of support to help new mothers get their babies off to a healthy start. YRMC Lactation Consultants are registered nurses who are dedicated to making breastfeeding a positive and rewarding experience for mothers and their babies.

Breastfeeding Class - This two-hour class, designed to be taken before the baby is born, covers the techniques of successful breastfeeding. The course is taught by a professional Lactation Consultant who can address any questions or concerns that women may have. For more information or to register, call 928-336-7058.

Inpatient Support - Once the baby is born, a Lactation Consultant is available seven days a week to assist new mothers and their babies with the breastfeeding process during their hospital stay.

Outpatient Support - New mothers who are experiencing problems with breastfeeding after their baby is at home can call 928-336-1228 to make an appointment to meet with a Lactation Consultant at YRMC.

Breastfeeding Warm Line - It's natural for mothers who have just begun breastfeeding to have questions along the way. To speak to a Lactation Consultant, call 928-336-1228 during 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or leave a message after hours.
